This week we’re coming at you LIVE from the city of Asheville in North Carolina—beloved home state of our Chief Exec Amy ‘Hey y’all!’ Parker. Asheville was settled during the Gilded Age, against the backdrop of the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Mountains. This bewitching hamlet was forged by Vanderbilts and birthed legends like Nina Simone, Roberta Flack, and Thomas Wolfe. We road-tripped here to convene with an intimate group of female leaders ranging in age from 30s to 80s—in other words, true Perennials.
This week we explored the intersection of trust, strategy, and leadership. Moderated by cultural anthropologist Barbara Perry, PhD and hosted by our generous TWA Allies Jen Randle and Denise Nelsen—founders of SGNL, a trust advisory helping leaders and institutions with alignment and decision-making under pressure. We left with many revelations including The Trust Report, a must-read for leaders and team players. Download here.
After a week of reflection, we are back to Charlotte hosting a TWA Dinner for our new North Carolina Chapter of The What Alliance. Btw, is it just us, or do you feel like you’ve been shot out of a canon since the ball dropped? Please share what you’re pondering for your year ahead.
You know we love hearing from you.👇
P.S. Thank you for supporting our indie newsletter. Join our growing Wall of Fame here.
THE FIGHT. Are we the only ones not watching Jubilee, a stress-inducing spectacle on YouTube, which pits 1 person against 25 haters to debate their opposing views intended to foster understanding outside the echo chamber (but more akin to tossing a serf into a pit of lions). Oh, never heard of Jubilee? Our guess is that most over 50s haven’t. Ask your kids, they’ll clue you in. Or, read up on it here.
THE FASHION. If you’re a lover, not a hater, and share our guilty pleasure of scanning runways and red carpets, you’ll appreciate the feed of fashion satirist, Angelica Hicks (niece of India’s). Her ingenious, quirky clips always make us smile.
THE FUND. Here’s a tip for anyone who writes a newsletter, blog, or hosts a podcast or YouTube channel. Buy Me A Coffee gives your community a way to say thanks without the hassle of subscription. Since one of us doesn’t drink coffee, a bottle of Billecart is always a safe bet. Hint hint 😉🥂
THE FUTURE. We always keep an eye on what’s cresting in the design world, which is why we love gingerly scrolling through The 2026 Wallpaper Design Awards, an annual celebration of the best of the best.
THE FILM. If you’re bored (stuck on a plane, let’s say) and in the mood for a bad movie with good intentions, gorgeous actors (Margot & Colin), and clumsy time travel, stream A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Despite its deservedly poor reviews, there are a few gold nuggets about relationships, commitment, and trust that sparked meaningful discussion days later.
SF BAY AREA ART LOVERS? Be sure to check out the dynamic duo Tiffany Shlain & Ken Goldberg’s critically acclaimed exhibition Ancient Wisdom for a Future Ecology: Trees, Time & Technology.
Drawing inspiration from dendrochronology (the science of tree-ring dating) and data science and artificial intelligence, the artists present a series of sculptural and media installations that offer new interpretations of the past, the present, and imagined futures. It was part of Getty PST ART in LA and is now opening at the di Rosa SF Center for Contemporary Art on January 22nd. RSVP Here.
THANK YOU to our fabulous and generous subscribers: Ann-Ferrell Luck Milham, Carol Davis, Kaye Kramer, and Stephanie Traut for supporting our indie newsletter and adding your name to our growing Wall of Fame!

Thank you! ❤️
What a great and timely event that will be. Thank you Gina and Amy for trusting us in Asheville with your most precious gift...your time. My life is greatly enriched knowing you and your powerful work.
